Papercraft Designer Profile : Dani Hamdani

Meet Dani Hamdani, 30 years old papercraft designer that began learning about papercraft designfrom late 2010.Although he is only graduated from STM but right now he is taking class again for the college. Knew papercraft from 2008, and bought it first model from local convenient store. The first model that he bought was Cessna 172, an airplane paper model from SIDU. Soon after that he Google the Internet for better paper model and found Hercules C130 made by Julius Perdana.

The software that he used the first time to learned paper model design was Metaseq v 2.4, he got it from Thai Paperwork. His first design was IPTN N 250, but he did not share the model because there are many flaws in his first design. When he asked about his master piece and the answered was KT-1B Wong Bee, Si Kumbang and the latest one CN 235 MPA.

Right now along with his ex wife and his partner Yopi Wibisana held a small workshop that teach elementary school student about this wonderful hobby. And if you want to know more about his work, you can update it in his blog right here.

Papercraft Designer Profile : Yulia Susanti

I think this is the first time I interviewed a female paper model designer and her name is Yulia Susanti. Single at the age of 25 she already bring new color to paper model design in Indonesia, especially Urban Paper Toy. On the above picture you can see one of her design "Diamond Queen" that was recently showed at Colours Attack exhibition in London . 

First time she built a paper model was a Drum Set from Canon Creative Park. She told me that she was amazed by the way the pedal that can move.After she resigned form her old job in early 2010 she began this hobby and talking about her masterpiece in building paper model was Drum Set and Santa's Home all  in A5 Paper version.

She began to learned about paper model design in mid of 2010 by making Graduation Paper Toy. She admit it that her first intention because she wanted to sell the souvenir made by paper. She loved it because it's unique and can be customized. After that she also learned from other paper toy master in Indonesia.

Her greatest achievement was her design can participate in an exhibition overseas. And the list was :
1.Custom Papertoy Ecko Clothing by Nick Knite  at Berlin'Germany
2.Paper toy show in OK,Linz, Austria a project by Marko Zubak. 
3.Colours Attack Exhibition at London.
She win an online competition and picked by a special jury.

She already spread papercraft virus to all her friends and relatives. But till now only her niece and nephew that interested in this hobby, she said it was like a playing ground if they saw many papercraft in her house.

Papercraft Designer Profile : Imanda Budiman

After I promoted his cute Gatot Kaca Paper Toy, Imanda Budiman who designed it already create a new blog solely for update his paper craft design. Meet 25 years college student that studied Tekhnik Informatika as his daily basis.He began to make paper model since 2010 with Velociraptor as his first built.
And according to his experience Strike Freedom Gundam in SD form was his most difficult built.

Began to learned about paper model design in the middle of 2010,and his first design was Gatot Kaca like the picture above. Although he already spread papercraft virus to all his friends in college or around him actually there is no one get ever really infected by that virus. But if you want to get infected by all his cute paper toy design you can visit his blog Superibee and download your favorite one. For my personal opinion I think we going to see more beautiful paper toy design from him in the near future.

Papercraft Designer Profile : Dicky Wardiansyah

Meet Dicky Wardiansyah, he is a new paper toy designer from Majalaya, Bandung, West Java.
He learned from his early elementary school about paper model. Actually back in the old days they used to call it Hasta Karya, at first he collected the pattern from magazine bonus. And by incident he came to meet papercraft pattern on the Internet after initially want to seek origami pattern.
His first build model was MIKOSHI from Yamaha papercraft site. He start learning to design paper toy around December 2010, although he only graduated from High School that doesn't limitd him to study graphic design and become a paper toy designer by learning from other and by self taught.

Actually when he asked about his masterpiece on papercraft building he only said none, but from difficulty point Neuschwanstein Castle from CANON website is the hardest one he ever built. And for paper toy design that he really loves is ORGA.His greatest achievement by becoming a paper toy designer is to meet and  make new FRIENDS from all over the world, because you can not measured that by anything.

His first paper toy design was D'Loo, he designed in a simple way and allow other people to customized it. Already have a wife and  a little boy, and still spreading papercraft virus around his neighborhood. And boy he is a lucky man, his wife advise him to teach his little boy about making papercraft when he already grow up.

Papercraft Designer Profile : Wanda Bachtiansyah

The photos above is Gundam Kyrios built by Ario Fitrianto designed by Wanda Bachtiansyah.And he admitted this one his masterpiece yet in paper model design. He already began his desire on this hobby since he's in 1st Elementary School. He said his first built as long as he can remember was Voltus papercrat. In year 1990 he was introduced to Angkasa magazine and he began made air plane paper model. And went he went to high school at STM Negeri 1 Bekasi (now known as Cikarang Barat) he and his class mate formed a community called ZERO that focused on air plane paper model. When he joint this community he also made Julius Perdana AH 64 Apache about 3 m long. And in 1999 he joined PRC (Paper Replica Club), this club was developed under Angkasa magazine. In PRC he entered Education Division, so his job was to teach paper model to PRC member or non member. He also spread his experience when Angkasa held an exhibition or an event in school or other places.

Since Elementary School he already learned to designed paper model. But his design back then was still rough and he polished it when he joined PRC. He actually did not remember his first design, but he can remember his last design that was published by Angkasa, it was  Messerschmitt ME 262 on Buku Membuat Pesawat Model. About his achievement in this hobby he once built 600 paper plane model for souvenir order along with his 2 friends. And he also built a full airport plane in 1/144 scale and 1 cm F-14 Tomcat(maybe this model it's the tiniest one he ever made).

Right now at the age of 32  he already married with one children. And for the last 8 years he's been living at Batam. He said there were many people already infected by his paper model virus and right now he is trying to spread those virus in Batam. His target that this virus someday will reach Singapore and Malaysia.

Papercraft Designer Profile : Happy Hutri Pamungkas

 I don't know what I'm supposed to call  this guy, but in PERI , Happy Hutri Pamungkas name is so popular and we considered him as our informal PERI mascot. His friends and colleagues called him Sonny, he knew paper model from our article coverage in HAI magazine all the way back in 2009. First time I met him was on our  gathering in Plaza Semanggi before IndoComtech 2009. I'm not asked to call teacher by this guy, but in his blog he seems to think that I'm his teacher.

Well then the student already surpassed the teacher maybe, he already designed a simple paper model (Inter Milan football club logo) on son2boy paper. But in terms of building skills, he must learn so much from me and the other builder in PERI.His first paper model build was Nessajthe Chaos knight , that was the popular DOTA character from hobikit.kertas.com. Still a college student in  Institut Manajemen Telkom major in MBTI. He first learn to design paper model around the end of 2009, and still want to finish his Unicorn Gundam paper model by paper-replika.com.

Seems to his opinion to beon Dahsyat RCTI and got his name on KOMPAS Bandung article is his greatest achievement. And I admitted he succeed to spread the paper model virus in his university and he's very active by publishing our event and exhibition in Bandung together with other PERI Bandung member.

Papercraft Designer Profile : Mohamad Rian Rahardi

As you can see from the first picture above, that was my friend Mohamad Rian Rahardi or so called misterry in our forum first paper model design.He admitted that he just recently learned to design paper model around August 2009. Although one of its design being used without his permission during one of TV  music show awards he admitted that was one of his achievement. He earned a degree in Economy and this year he will get married soon. Many of his co worker already interested in paper model, but he admitted that there are not so many people willing to build it, they just want to see it done.Till now he already made about 12 paper model design and you can see all his design in his site at www.kertascraft.com.  

Papercraft Designer Profile : Christopher Ryan Suryanto

The above picture is Jeepney paper model by Christopher Ryan Suryanto also known as bamboogila in our forum. His first papercraft was FV101 Scorpion designed by Julius Perdana in 2008. This jeepney paper model took quite long to designed as he admitted it. He began to studied papercraft design in January 2010. He began to know this hobby in 1008 but he seriously doing it since last 2009. Already spreading papercraft virus to his friend, while he study as a college student. Right now he is still busy doing his final assignment before he can graduate an earn a degree in Teknik Informatika. Papercraft Designer Profile : Maulana Jodi Prayogo

Pak Raden is a character taken from Unyil puppet show all the way back in 1981. This papercraft was Maulana Jodi Prayogo first design. His nick name in our forum is jdmaulana. He began studied papercraft design by himself in the mid 2010. Although he admit that he know papercraft since his high school times, he went serious about this hobby in 2010. His masterpiece design till now is S.E.S.I (Space Explorer Ship of Indonesia), as you can see in the second picture still fresh from his Paperkrap blog. And at the age of 19 and already have a girlfriend right now he is a college student and already spread his papercraft virus to his family and friends. 

Papercraft Designer Profile : Idham Mahardhika

The picture above are PATO, Idham Mahardhika first paper toy design. In our forum his nick name is cocoanurban. Known papercraft since 2008 and he admit that his papercraft was Peyo from Concept Magazine. Since 2006 he already learn papercraft design, his first touch with design was to designed T- Shirt.
Right now at the age of 24 and still single his occupation is a freelance designer. Already spread his papercraft virus to his family and friends and since he live in Bandung I think he got many good lesson from Faizal Azad in papercraft or paper toy design. From Builder to Designer

From my previous papercraft builder profile RAUF and ANTHO back in 2009, there are good news coming from both of them. They already leveled up their skills and became a papercraft designer.
Rauf built his first papercraft design DASH-1 Emperor from the famous manga and anime series. As for Antho he made a pirate paper toy for his concern about design piracy.

As far as I know, Rauf studied papercraft design from many people but there are three people which can be named as his tutor. They are Arif Suseno,Rizky Feriansyah and Julius Perdana. Antho tutor in papercraft design was Faisal Azad. So I congratulate both of them for their effort to make Indonesian papercraft becoming much recognize in the international forums and websites.

Papercraft Designer Profile : Imam Sujugo

Zoids Command Wolf was his first design in papercraft. Please meet Imam Sujugo or also known as ichigo190 in our forum. He made this design because the plastic model kit of Command Wolf was too expensive. Still searching for new tricks in designing papercraft, because he became a papercraft designer under one year studies. Single at the age of 27, he already spread this papercraft virus to his big brother and cousin. His education background is an Associate Degree and once again I don't know from which major.
He built his first papercraft when he was in Junior High School and it was an airplane from Angkasa Magazine. He is proud that from this hobby he can represent PeRI as a Workshop Instructor in Central Park Event on late February 2010. His masterpiece was a Choper motorcycle from Yamaha Papercraft website. Papercraft Designer Profile : Liem Kou Phing

The pic above was Liem Kou Ping first papercraft design with 3D computer program. He learned papercraft design when Angkasa Magazine held a paper model contest.. His first design was a scratch build F-16 fighter plane for Angkasa Magazine contest back in 1995. Back at grade 5 in Elementary School he first knew about this hobby. He began with aeromodelling so obvious that his first paper model was an airplane. He started to focus on aeromodelling till he saw Angkasa Magazine contest in 1995 and back to this hobby. His education background is a Bachelor Degree but I don't know from  which major. Right now at the age of 40 with two kids he had a small business that one of its component based on his knowledge from paper model design and building. Papercraft Designer Profile : Roy Jalo Martua Sitompul

This cute baby Taz Paper Toy is my friend first design. His name is Roy Jalo Martua Sitompul, but in our paper model forum his nick name is jalokx. At the age of 10 he made his first paper model which is a plane from a cigarette box. But he seriously do this hobby since he bought Apocalypse comic book in 2009 with a paper model bonus inside of it. His masterpiece was when he built drive through, gas station and parking post for BCA Flazz commercial. He said he was proud that his work put on large billboard in Jakarta. He learned paper model design when he assisted Julius Perdana (paper-replika.com) in order to complete the BCA commercial. Beside BCA commercial his highest achievment in paper model that he showed up in Dahsyat RCTI and Laptop Si Unyil Trans7.
His papercraft virus already infected to his little brother, and judging by his age now at 24 I'm expecting more design comes from him. Papercraft Designer Profile : Yudho Wiratomo

Yudho Wiratomo (Yuthdaw) is the one who designed Tugu Monument in Yogyakarta. This is his latest design in papercraft, his first design was M1A1 Abrams. He knew papercraft since he was 4th grader. From Majalah Angkasa he built F-16 as his first papercraft. Although he still doing his Final Assigment for Universitas Gadjah Mada major in Geophysics, he still manage to learnt papercraft design. Black Pearl ship from the motion picture The Pirates of Caribbean : Curse of The Black Pearl was his masterpiece papercraft as you seen above. The other one was Sagres II from Canon Papercraft and 1/6 Scale SWAT Team from julescrafter.com.

His favorite papercraft designer is Julius Perdana form paper-replika.com, because all his model was great design and FREE TO DOWNLOAD. He already engaged with his girlfriend and prepared to get married soon. And his girlfriend already effected by his papercraft virus, also his friends and younger brother.

Papercraft Designer Profile : Moch Faisal Azad

Moch. Faisal Azad a.k.a Salazad is a Papercarft designer from Bandung,Indonesia. He began to enter papercraft world around 2005 just by downloading and built some model from the internet. His first built papercraft was ASTRO BOY by Japanese designer. He began learning papercraft design around 2008 and till now he still exploring in order to make a better one sheet technique design. As you notice from the picture above that his papertoy design is built around Indonesian culture, such as Reog Ponorogo,Gatot Kaca and Cepot (and this is his first design). When asked why ? He simply said that he want to make his design look unique and to add more value whether is from culture background or shape. Belive it or not his educational background is Management, and he proud to say that he already spread papercraft virus from his family to his co worker. Papercraft Designer Profile: Rizky Feriansyah

This article is for my friend Rizky Feriansyah who designed and built the picture above :Diorama Tank Factory. He began this hobby from Elementary School and before he went to Junior High School at his 6th grade class he already designed a papercraft. His first design was a submarine and he did it manually. He went to SMA 68 and finished his college at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) major in Architecture at 2005.
